Chronic pain can have a profound effect on a person’s day to day life when it goes unmanaged. It can impact your energy and mood, your activity levels, your relationships, and your overall quality of life. We can help through primary care and additional supports.

Chronic Pain Peer Support Group

You are not alone.  Our Chronic Pain Peer Support Program can assist by connecting you with other people experiencing chronic pain, for an exchange of ideas that will help in managing your chronic pain. Family members are also welcome to attend,

This monthly drop in program takes place at Shelldale on third Wednesday of the month from 1:00 – 2:00pm. For more info call 519-821-6638 ext 268

Chronic Pain Self Management Program

The Guelph CHC and the Waterloo Wellington Self Management Program offer a free, six-week workshop for people who live with chronic pain.

Meet other people who share similar challenges with their health and find new ways to deal with these challenges.

The workshop teaches skills for living a healthy life.  Some of the topics you will learn about are: 

  • dealing with pain and fatigue
  • improving your sleep
  • managing stress
  • how to talk to your doctor or healthcare provider
  • managing medications and making treatment decisions
  • keeping active
  • planning and problem solving

This program runs at the Shelldale Centre, 20 Shelldale Crescent, Konnie’s room, for 2.5 hours for 6 consecutive weeks a few time each year. New dates are to be determined.

This program is open to the public, and is free with registration. You may bring a family member or caregiver. This program is offered at various times throughout the year.

Take Charge

We also offer the Take Charge program which offers support to those living with ongoing health issues including chronic plain.

Speak to your health care provider.

If you experience chronic pain, speak with your health care provider about ways to manage the pain.  You may be a candidate for our  Physiotherapy program.
