5 – 11 COVID-19 Vaccine

On July 14, 2022 Health Canada approved the first mRNA COVID-19 vaccine for children six (6) months to five (5) years old. Moderna Spikevax (25mcg) will be a two dose vaccination at an eight (8) week interval. Further details will be coming regarding the vaccine availability in the coming weeks.

Please reach out your family doctor/ primary care provider office to ask about vaccination for your child(ren).

The COVID 19 vaccine for children aged five (5) to eleven (11) years old is NOW AVAILABLE.  Please check the WDG Public Health website here or call 1-800-265-7293 ext. 7006 to book an appointment.

The best way to protect everyone in your family and the community is for all eligible adults and children to be fully vaccinated.  Our medical team fully supports vaccination for all eligible community members including children.  Please contact your provider if you have questions about the Covid 19 vaccine and your child.

– Children 5-11 years old will be given a lower dose of the vaccine than adults

– Pfizer vaccine has been approved for children 5-11 years old at doses 1/3 that of the adult dose
