Growing and Parenting Program

The Growing and Parenting Program (GAPP) offers group support and parenting information to young mothers (21 to 25) at the same time as a program for their children age six or younger.

  • The Adult Program
The adult program gives young mothers the opportunity to learn more about parenting and themselves. For the first seven weeks, the adult program focuses on parenting issues of particular interest to young mothers. Guest speakers may include a public health nurse, dietitian, lawyer or parent educator. The remaining seven weeks are spent exploring a variety of topics such as self-esteem, stress, anger and relationships.

  • The Children's Program
The children's program focuses on social and emotional development and includes crafts, songs and play. Parents join their children for a circle time.

Please note that space in this program is limited to eight parents per session and that parents must have custody of their children in order to participate.

The Growing and Parenting Program runs for 14 weeks on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. and includes a light supper.

Sessions are held downtown at 176 Wyndham Street North.
