About UsWe are dedicated to working with and meeting the needs of a broad range of groups in our community. Our early childhood specialists, health care providers, community program providers and volunteers work together with other community agencies to: - develop and provide access to programs and services in response to the needs of our community
- create opportunities for people to improve their own health and well-being
- reach out to people in our community by offering programs and services at a variety of locations throughout the Guelph area
We are committed to working with and meeting the needs of families with young children as well as people who may find it hard to access health care. We are particularly focused on assisting people who are new to Canada or who face challenges such as low income, unemployment, isolation, homelessness and physical or mental disabilities. - Our Early Years Centre offers programs and play groups for children age six or younger and their parents and caregivers. Parents and caregivers can also access resources and information on child development through our programs. Some of our programs are drop-ins and others require registration.
- Our Health Care services are provided by a variety of health professionals and include a clinic for our registered clients to have their health issues assessed, diagnosed and managed.
- Our Community Programs are provided to address specific community health issues such as prenatal and postnatal support, disease management, child development, physical activity and nutrition.
Our programs and services are made available through funding received from the provincial government and our community partnerships as well as through donations directed to our health centre. The Guelph CHC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of 12 community members who subscribe to Guelph CHC's vision, mission and priorities. People serving on our Board of Directors are elected to a three-year term by members of our health centre at our Annual General Meeting each June.
